What are We?

Active Minds, Inc. is a national organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health disorders by promoting open, enlightened discussion around mental health. Dedicated student-led chapters have opened all over the country on numerous college campuses, and this number continues to increase as more and more students advocate for this important cause.

UVM's Chapter Mission

The University of Vermont Active Minds community strives to create a fun, safe, and non-judgemental environment where everyone can discuss mental health and spread awareness about it throughout the campus. The University of Vermont's Active Minds chapter's mission is based on the belief that everyone has mental health; (and that) there are commonalities in the human mind regardless of one’s place on the mental health spectrum. The mission of this group is to spread awareness of the common challenges that affect aspects of everyday life. Active Minds at UVM works to eliminate the stigma associated with identifying our personal needs and maintaining our well being. In addition, educate people about mental health and serves as a liaison for associated resources in Burlington and beyond. Also, we also focus focus on creating projects that will foster mental health awareness for all students and strive to provide educational material so that students can stay informed and know how and where to get help when they need it.
